South Bay Community Services

South Bay Community Services has been part of the community since 1971 touching the lives of more than 50,000 children, youth and families annually. As a multi-service non-profit agency, our programs are designed to meet the emerging needs of the whole family.

We offer various programs for current and former foster youth to help them bridge the gap to adulthood. Trolley Trestle and the new THP-plus offers affordable transitional housing for former foster youth, parenting youth and homeless youth ages 16 -24 while they finish school or complete job training. During their stay, youth are provided with various services to help them meet their goals, such as counseling, life skills, job readiness training, financial literacy, mentoring and case management. We also offer Independent Living Skills, a series of educational classes and services; and EXCEL, a job readiness training and internship placement program.

San Diego Youth & Community Services (SDYCS) is a non-profit charitable organization that since founded, has stabilized the lives of over 500,000 homeless, runaway, abused and at-risk youth in the San Diego area. Launched in 1970 when volunteers established one of the first runaway youth shelters in America, SDYCS now provides intensive services to more than 9,000 children and their families each year.

This nationally recognized agency offers emergency services, safe places to live and long-term solutions for kids "on their own" by providing shelters, group homes, foster homes, community centers and transitional housing. Professional help for high risk youth is provided at 14 major locations in San Diego County.

YMCA Youth & Family Services

YMCA Youth and Family Services' Independent Living Services provides current and former Foster youth/young adults with supportive services which assist with the development of independent living skills, enabling them to live self-sufficient and independent lives. Youth programs available:

  • Tommie's Place - an 8-bed program for parenting and pregnant youth
  • Mary's House - a 5-bed facility for single female youth
  • Turning Point - a 16-bed program for single young adults
  • Independent Living Skills - a County-funded program for 16 to 21-year-old young adults

All of these programs give the foster youth/young adults the little extras they may need to assist them in meeting their goal of autonomy.

Mission Bay Park Endowment Fund: Proceeds from the festival return to Mission Bay Park through the Mission Bay Endowment Fund. The fund was created to provide enhancements to the park such as the Bill Muncey Memorial and ensures the future of Mission Bay Park for generations to come.

Warrior Foundation: The Warrior Foundation's mission is to help wounded and disabled military heroes. We vow to assist, honor, and support the soldiers who have so bravely served and sacrificed for our country.
